How to move the program and data to a new computer

Instructions for moving Sage BusinessWorks to a new server, new standalone computer or a different location.

Description

Ensure your server meets the system requirements for the current version
Upgrading from Sage BusinessWorks 2013 or later allows direct migration to the current version on the new server. You do not have to install the same version on the new server. The version just needs to be newer than your current version
If upgrading from Sage BusinessWorks 2012 or earlier, upgrade to Sage BusinessWorks 2020 first
Install the current version on the new server and restore backups from the old server
EXAMPLE: If upgrading from version 2018, back up your data, then restore on the new server

Although the video is from a prior version, the steps are the same in the current version.

If you prefer to follow step-by step guidance, use the steps below.

Download and install the current version on the new server.
Login using Manager and no password.
Restore the backup of your System files.
Log out.
Install the most current service pack for your version.
Restore the backup of your company files and update all databases on the server.
If on a network version, uninstall the Sage BusinessWorks client and install the client at all client workstations.
