How to move the program and data to a new computer

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Instructions for moving Sage BusinessWorks to a new server, new standalone computer, or a different location.

Description

Before you begin

  • Ensure your server meets the system requirements for the current version
  • Upgrading from Sage BusinessWorks 2013 or later allows direct migration to the current version on the new server. You don’t have to install the same version on the new server. The version just needs to be newer than your current version
  • If upgrading from Sage BusinessWorks 2012 or earlier, upgrade to Sage BusinessWorks 2020 first
  • Install the current version on the new server and restore backups from the old server
EXAMPLE: If upgrading from version 2018, back up your data, then restore on the new server
