Summary
In Sage 50 Accounting, you're unable to print a check, invoice, sales order, or any other type of form.
Cause
- Printer not connected to network
- Loose cable to printer
- Either computer or printer isn’t actively on the network
- Incompatible print driver
- Damaged printer installation
- Damaged FRM, PTR, or RPT files in the company directory
- Incorrect data path
- Incorrect sharing permissions or security
- Printer not recognizing check paper as a printable surface
- Not allowing journal to post
- Can’t print from any program
Resolution
Not allowing journal to post
- If using Batch posting or SmartPosting, click Yes if prompted to post the journal when opening the task window
- If you like transactions to post immediately and automatically, change the posting method to Real time
- If the error continues, proceed to the next section
Printer driver issue
- Select Start, Control Panel, and then select Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the printer. and then select Printer Properties.
- Select Print Test Page.
- If a test page doesn’t print, the problem is with the printer or driver
- If the test page does print, continue with the next section
Selecting the correct printer
- Select Lists, Vendors & Purchases, and then select Payments.
- Double-click an existing check to open it.
- Click Print.
- Click Printer Setup.
- Select arrow next to Name.
- Select correct printer to use, and then click OK.
- Click Print.
Incorrect data path
- Close Sage.
- Open Computer.
- Browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage\Peachtree.
- Open the configuration file for the installed version of Sage:
- Release 2026: Peachtree330.ini
- Release 2024: Peachtree310.ini
- Release 2023: Peachtree300.ini
- Verify DATAPATH and LOCALDATAPATH lines are pointing to the correct locations.
- If on a workstation, correct the data path if it’s incorrect.
- Click File, Save, and then close the file and Computer.
- Reopen Sage.
- Verify you can print without issue.
Incorrect sharing permissions/security

Damaged customized form files
- Select Maintain, Company Information, and note the company's directory.
- Close Sage on all workstations.
- Open the File Explorer and browse to the data path. See How to find the data path and program path.
- In the data path, rename the Forms folder to OldForms.
- Remove any PTR and FRM files from the company data directory.
- Repair the installation on the computer hosting the data.
- Verify you can now print checks.
