Summary
The application pane is empty, or application modules are missing in Sage 300 CRE. This occurs in Sage Desktop version 17.1 and later.
Resolution
Different options exist to resolve this. Your choice depends on the following criteria:
- Your access to the server
- If other users are working in Sage
- Your Windows user access level
- If this occurs on only one workstation
Update license administration for a quick fix
- Log in to the SAGE Application server.
- Open License Administration and log in using a Sage 300 CRE admin user.
- Click Update in the middle of the license administration window on the right.
- Have all users close and reopen the Sage desktop.
Change service credentials to fix it permanently
- Open the Windows services console (Windows key + R, type services.msc, and click OK).
- Locate Sage 300 CRE Hosting Framework (Version).
- Right-click Properties and select the Log On tab.
- Select This account and enter the domain or local admin user credentials.
- Click OK.
- Right-click and Restart the Sage 300 CRE Hosting Framework (Version) service.
Application missing on specific workstations
Sometimes, the application pane is only empty for one machine. It’s a known issue that modules "disappear" on specific workstations after upgrading to 24.2, but this can happen on earlier versions, too. Replacing the extension file typically resolves this on the machine. If it doesn't, follow the uninstall/reinstall steps.
Replace extension file
Replace the Extensions.xds file on the affected machine. Copy the file from a working machine or the server and paste on the non-working machine. You can locate the file in C:\ProgramData\Sage\Common Desktop\Extensions\.
Uninstall/Reinstall
- Uninstall the Sage 300 CRE client from the workstation.
- Rename 'C:\ProgramData\Sage\Common Desktop\Extensions\Extensions.xds' to Extensions.old.
- Reinstall Sage 300 CRE on the workstation.
