Description
Cause
  • The ~pvsw~.loc file in the company data set folder is pointing to the wrong server or is damaged
  • The shared data folder has not been shared properly
  • There are damaged, encrypted, or erroneous files in your company data folder
  • IPv6 is enabled
Resolution

Option I: Set Windows to prefer IPv4 address over IPv6 on workstation

Option II: Ping server from workstation

  1. Verify you are able to ping the server from the workstation, refer to Article ID 14377: DocLink: How do I ping the server by name from a workstation or vice versa?
  2. If you receive a Request timed out error contact your Network Administrator or an IT professional.

Option III: The ~pvsw~.loc file in the company data set folder is pointing to the wrong server or is damaged

  1. Close Sage 50—U.S. Edition
  2. Browse to the location of your company. Refer to Article 10199: DocLink: How to locate company directories
  3. Delete ~pvsw~.loc for that company
  4. Reopen Sage 50
  5. Verify the company opens without error

Option IV: The shared data folder has not been shared properly

  1. Verify that the file permissions on the shared data folder are correctly set. Refer to Article 10211: DocLink: Verify my data file permissions are correctly set
  2. Verify that Sage 50 opens without error

Option V: The company data folder has encrypted files in it

  1. Close Sage 50
  2. Browse to the location of your company, refer to Article 10199: DocLink: How to locate company directories
  3. Select all of the files in the directory by pressing Ctrl+A
  4. Right-click the highlighted files and select Properties
  5. Select the Advanced button
  6. Verify that the check box for Encrypt contents to secure data is unchecked
  7. Select OK, then Apply
  8. Select OK
  9. Reopen Sage 50
  10. Verify that the company opens without error

Option VI: Creating a new directory with the core company data files

  1. Open Sage 50
  2. Select Open Existing Company
  3. Note the Directory for your company
  4. Create a new folder in the data path. Refer to Article ID 10165: DocLink: How to find data path and program path
  5. Double-click your company folder from Step 2
  6. Copy KeysBackup folder, Version.txt, KMSKeys.xml, and all .DAT files
  7. Paste into the new folder from Step 4
  8. Select File, then Open Company, and open the company file from the new folder that you created in step 3
  9. Verify you can access the company information
