Description
Use this article when the Premier Client can’t connect, immediately crashes, or appears to load but does nothing.
Resolution
Confirm network support
- Verify the client connects on the same local network as the SQL server.
- Sage Fixed Assets doesn't support connections over VPN or wide area networks.
Verify database version
- Ensure all databases use the current version.
- Convert older databases on the server using How to convert databases.
Match Premier versions
- Confirm Premier Server and Premier Client use the same version.
- Install or update the client using How to install a client.
Validate SQL server name
- Check that the SQL server name is correct.
- Ensure the correct instance name exists in the connection settings.
Check firewall configuration
- Open the SQL port in software and hardware firewalls.
- Add exceptions using How to add firewall exceptions.
Confirm TLS and ODBC setup
- Check if you have if TLS 1.0 and 1.1 disabled.
- Install drivers using Premier client doesn’t connect.
Enable SQL protocols
- Open SQL Server Configuration Manager.
- Enable TCP/IP.
- Enable Named Pipes using Unable to connect to the SQL server.
Review recent SQL server changes
- Check you recently moved or renamed your SQL server.
- Update connection details using Premier Error: “The System cannot connect to this database”.
