How to update to Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation 2025.1
Description
Cause

The Sage Fixed Assets version 2025.1 is the annual Tax update, updating Tax forms and calculation rules in compliance with current IRS rules. See the Sage Fixed Asset Release Notes for new features included in this release.

For detailed installation instructions, See the Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation Quick Start Guide.

Note: Starting with Sage Fixed Assets 2023.1, Sage Fixed Assets installs SAP Crystal Reports runtime SP30. This can cause an issue with Crystal Reports runtime versions used for other products. See Crystal Runtime Version Conflict for more information.

Installing Sage 500 can prevent Sage Fixed Assets 2023.1 or later from running reports. See Crystal conflict Sage Fixed Assets 2023.1 and Sage 500 for more information.

Resolution

Note: The download of Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation version 2025.1 is a full version of the program.

Note: For new installation of the Sage Fixed Assets program. See Download Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation 2025.1 for the product download.

Note: There are prerequisites required for Sage Fixed Assets to run properly:

  • The installer checks if you have .NET Framework 4.8 installed on the system. If .NET Framework 4.8 is missing, the installer installs it automatically. You need to reboot after the .NET installation before completing the Sage Fixed Assets installation
  • Sage Standalone SBDDesktop
  • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 – 2022 Redistributable Package (x86) See Error: "The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.CRPE' threw an exception." for a download of the prerequisite installation if it fails

Note: For in place updates, you must perform a Database Conversion for all versions of the program 2024.1 and prior. If not updating from 2024.1 see the Updating from older versions section for update paths.

Sage Fixed Assets - Database Conversion:

Note: When you open Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation 2025.1 for the first time, the in‑place conversion launches automatically. It runs when you attempt to open the last database you accessed and converts that database. If there’s only a single database, no further steps are required

If there are several databases you need to convert, use the Conversion Utility for Single User and Lite Editions. See How do I convert data? for details.

Updating from older versions

Note: You can find the product downloads for the currently supported versions of Sage Fixed Assets on the Download portal. See Sage Fixed Assets: Download Portal

CAUTION:  If updating from 2023.1 or prior, if you install 2025.1 without going to the appropriate update path, you can't convert databases directly to 2025.1. They’ll appear with a Conversion Status of Incompatible Version and will require a Sage Expert Services engagement to update. See Sage Expert Services (SES) for details.

Note: For in place updates, you must perform a Database Conversion for all version of the program 2024.1 and prior. When updating from versions 2023.1 and prior, the update paths are:

  • If updating from 2024.0:
    • Uninstall the existing version, install 2025.1 and convert the databases
  • If updating from 2012.0 – 2023.1: You can't convert the existing databases to 2025.1. Migrate to new databases: How to migrate Sage Fixed Assets Single User products for more information. You can restore Company Backups (.BBK) files created in prior versions back to 2012.0 directly into the 2025.1 product on a new system.
