Fix Paperless Office PDF prompt issues after Windows updates

Overview of the issue

Updated components

Driver updates

• Sage 100 2020, Product Update 3 uses driver version 6.0.4.1.
• Sage 100 2021, Product Update 1 uses driver version 6.0.4.1.
• Sage 100 2022 uses driver version 6.0.4.1.
• Sage 100 2023 uses driver version 6.5.1.7 and renames the printer.

Registry updates

• Earlier versions use:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\SOFTWARE\Sage 100 PDF Converter
• Newer versions use:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sage 100 PDF Converter
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sage 100 Paperless Office Driver Version 650

Common causes after Windows updates

Resulting issues

• Prompts for a PDF file name or location appear.
• “Output File Name” window shows "Crystal Reports - .pdf".
• A "Save As" dialog displays when printing.
• Paperless Office stops responding during PDF creation.
• No output occurs when printing journals, registers, or reports.
• Error messages appear, including:
  • "PDF document was not created successfully"
  • "Printer not activated -30" or "-41"
  • "Unable to Process Lockfile"

Apply product updates

Supported versions with fixes

• Install Sage 100 2020, Product Update 3 (6.20.3.0).
• Install Sage 100 2021, Product Update 1 (7.00.1).
• Install Sage 100 2022 (7.10.0.0).

For Sage 100 2019.5 and newer

• Install the Amyuni Driver Update for Sage 100 2019, 2020, and 2021.
• Use this update for versions:
  • 2019.5
  • 2020.0 through 2020.2
  • 2021.0

Reinstall the PDF converter for older versions

Remove the Amyuni PDF driver

1. Right-click the Windows Start button, then select Run.
2. Type Control Printers, then click OK.
3. Right-click Sage 100 PDF Converter, then select Remove Device.
4. Open Run again, type Control Printers, then click OK.
5. Select any printer, then click Print Server Properties.
6. Expand Custom Filters, then All Drivers.
7. Right-click the appropriate driver:
   • Amyuni Document Converter 600 for Sage 100 2019
   • Amyuni Document Converter 500 for Sage 100 2018
8. Select Delete.
9. Go to the Drivers tab, select the same driver, then click Remove.
10. Select Remove driver and driver package, then confirm prompts.
11. Close all windows, then restart the computer.

Reinstall the Sage 100 PDF Converter

1. Right-click the Sage 100 shortcut, then select Run as Administrator.
2. Select File, then Run.
3. Enter PL_AdvancedOptions_UI, then click OK.
4. Confirm Use Lockfile is selected.
5. Click Install PDF Converter.
6. Click Test PDF Converter to confirm it works.
7. Exit the utility.

Additional information

• Windows updates can install or update the Amyuni driver automatically.
• Some updates include this driver even when optional updates remain blocked.
• A hotfix updates the driver and registry location.
