Error: "Form printing canceled because of printer error"

Description


Cause

  • Damaged form
  • Bad installation of the Sage 50 E-mail Writer
  • Printer driver conflict
  • Damaged files or damaged print preference files
  • Printing to a printer driver that is no longer in use
  • E-mail Writer is the set as the default printer
  • Incompatible version of Adobe

Resolution

Section 1: Damaged custom form

  1. Select Reports & Forms.
  2. From the forms list, locate the form that was causing the problem.
  3. Right-click form, and then select Delete.
  4. Re-customize the form from a standard form and verify that it can print.

Section 2: Bad installation of the Sage 50 E-mail Writer

Remove and reinstall the Sage 50 E-mail Writer, referring to Not responding or closing program when I try to e-mail a form.

Section 3: Printer driver conflict

Printer drivers installed on the machine will need to be removed and reinstalled. Refer to Error: “Not enough memory to print form”.

Section 4: Damaged print preference files

  1. Remove .PTR files from the Forms folder in data path. Refer to How to find data path and program path.
  2. Remove .PTR files from your individual data folder. Refer to How to locate company directories.

Section 5: Damaged Forms folder

  1. Rename Forms folder to OldForms.
  2. Run Repair to replace Forms folder. Refer to How to run Repair for assistance.
  3. Verify you are now able to print.

Section 6: Using an incorrect printer driver

  1. Select a different printer.
  2. Verify you can now print.

Section 7: E-mail Writer is the default printer

  1. Change the default printer in Windows to the correct printer.
  2. Verify you are able to print.

Section 8: Printing to a network printer over a VPN

  1. If printing to a network printer over a VPN, test with a printer on the LAN (Local Area Network).
  2. Consult a network administrator or IT professional for assistance in repairing the printer driver or connection to the printer.

Section 9: Incompatible version of Adobe

  1. Select Control Panel, Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall all versions of Adobe.
  3. Reinstall Adobe.
  4. Verify you can now e-mail from within Sage.

Section 10: Sage 50 E-mail Writer v3 is not installed

  1. Select Control Panel, Programs and Features.
  2. Run a Repair on Sage program, referring to How to run Repair.
  3. Go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers, and verify that the Sage 50 E-mail Writer v3 is installed
  4. Verify that you can now email from inside Sage without an error message.

Note: Ensure that all users have logged out of Sage prior to running Repair on Sage if the computer is the Sage server.
