Summary
To change from a standalone to a network version of Sage BusinessWorks, back up your data, uninstall the standalone edition, and install the network edition.
Resolution
The existing standalone computer will become the workgroup server
- Backup company and system files.
- Ensure that you have a good backup and that it resides in a safe place
- Don’t back up to the BWProg or BWData folders
- Uninstall the standalone installation of Sage BusinessWorks on the computer that will become the server.
- Share the existing folder with full control for all users that will be using Sage BusinessWorks.
- Install the network version of Sage BusinessWorks on top of your existing install using your product code.
- When prompted for the type of install, select Network, then enter WG for the product code. The product code is WG when changing your standalone computer to a workgroup server.
NOTE: You'll receive a message that you have the correct version of Pervasive/Actian installed. Click OK to proceed with the installation. - Log in to Sage BusinessWorks using your login. If you can’t see your data, restore the backup of your System and company files.
- Install the most current service pack after you restore the System Database.
