You receive the message "You cannot connect to the Pervasive database engine. TS 2695" when launching Sage 300 CRE on a single workstation. You can also receive the message when opening a database or estimate in Sage Estimating.
Pervasive Database Engine isn’t running.

Choose an option below to resolve the error.
Run the application as an administrator
Run the Pervasive application as an Administrator at the workstation or Terminal Server.
- Go to Start, All Programs, Pervasive PSQL 11, Engines, Stop Workgroup Engine.
- Go to Start, All Programs, Startup.
- Right-click Start Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine and click Properties.
- Click the Compatibility tab and check the Run this program as administrator checkbox.
Install the engine as a service
Install the Pervasive Workgroup Engine as a service at the workstation.
Corrupt engine
The Pervasive Server or Workgroup Engine is corrupt. If this affects all workstations, the engine on the server can be corrupt. When it only affects one workstation, the workstation engine can be corrupt.
- Verify the Pervasive database engine can communicate across the network. If it can't, continue to the next step.
- Uninstall the engine.
- Reinstall the engine.
Using a Full DNS name
Your workstation or terminal server uses the Full DNS Name.
- Open the Windows Registry.
- Browse to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Timberline\General key.
- Under Accounting Server Name, change the Full DNS Computer Name to the DNS Computer Name. For example, change INTERNAL.SERVERNAME.NET to SERVERNAME.
- Complete the same steps with the Application Data Directory, Documents Directory, and ServerSharedKey keys. For example, change \\INTERNAL.SERVERNAME.NET\Timberline Office\9.5 to \\SERVERNAME\Timberline Office\9.5.
- Under General, look for references to the server's IP Address. If you see references, replace them with the Server's Device Name.
Disable the cache engine
CAUTION:
Only use this option as a last resort.
- Hold down the Windows Key + R to open the Run box.
- Type PCC.exe in the Run box.
- Click Configure MicroKernal Router.
- Click Performance tuning.
- Uncheck the Use Cache Engine.
- Click Apply and OK.
