Cause
The Sage Fixed Assets version 2024.1 is the annual Tax update, updating Tax forms and calculation rules in compliance with current IRS rules. See the Sage Fixed Asset Release Notes for new features include in this release.

Note: Starting with Sage Fixed Assets 2023.1, Sage Fixed Assets is installing SAP Crystal Reports runtime SP30 which may cause an issue with Crystal Reports runtime versions used for other products. See Crystal Runtime Version Conflict for more information.

Resolution
Note: The download of Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 version 2024.1 is a full version of the program.
Note: For new installation of the Sage Fixed Assets program. See Download Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 2024.1 for the product download.
Note: There are prerequisites required for Sage Fixed Assets to run properly:
- If the installation detects that the NET 4.8 framework isn’t currently on the system, it will install it. A reboot is required after the .NET installation before the Sage Fixed Assets installation will complete
- Sage Standalone SBDDesktop
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package (x86) See Error: "The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.CRPE' threw an exception." for a download of the prerequisite installation if it should fail
Note: For in place updates, a Database Conversion is required for all versions of the program 2023.0 and prior. If not updating from 2023.1 or 2024.0, see the Updating from older versions: section below for the update paths available.
Updating from 2023.1 or 2024.0 through the Sage Advisor Update
The Sage Advisor Update will have a notification of the 2024.1 release via a pop-up message in the Microsoft Windows system tray.
To check manually:
- Click the Sage Advisor Update in the system tray or go to Start, All Programs, Sage, and open Sage Advisor Update.
- If the 2024.1 release isn’t listed, click the Check for Updates button and it will list the available updates.
- Put a check in the box beside the Sage Fixed Assets product listed and click Download & Install or Download Only
- Download & Install: This will download the update and start the Installation process once the download completes:
Click Next, then Yes and Yes to uninstall the prior version then wait for the install to process to complete. Click Finish once completed - Download only: Later, you can either open the Sage Advisor Update and click the Download & Install button to start the installation or Browse to C:\Sage Advisor Update\Sage.US.SBS.SFA.Lite50 and right-click the setup.exe and select Run as administrator to start the installation:
Click Next, then Yes and Yes to uninstall the prior version then wait for the install to process to complete. Click Finish once completed
- Download & Install: This will download the update and start the Installation process once the download completes:
Note: On opening the Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 for the first time the In-place conversion will launch automatically when attempting to open the last database touched to convert the database. If there’s only a single database, no further steps are required
- If you have multiple databases to convert, use the Conversion Utility (See How do I convert data? for details)
Updating from older versions:
Warning: If updating from 2022.1 or prior once 2024.1 is installed without going to the appropriate update path the databases can’t be converted directly to 2024.1. They’ll appear with a Conversion Status of Incompatible Version and will require a Sage Expert Services engagement to update. See How do I contact Sage Expert Services? for details.
Note: For in place updates, a Database Conversion is required for all versions of the program 2023.1 and prior. When updating from versions 2023.0 and prior the update paths are:
- If updating from 2023.0, you can either:
- Uninstall the existing version, install 2024.1 and convert the databases
- Or first update to 2023.1 (See How to update to Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 2023.1 for details) then update to 2024.1 and convert the databases
- If updating from 2022.1 you can:
- First update to 2023.1 (See How to update to Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 2023.1 for details) and convert the databases, then update to 2024.1 and convert the databases
- If updating from 2021.0, 2021.1, or 2022.0 you can:
- Uninstall the existing version, install 2023.1 (See Download Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 2023.1) and convert the databases then update to 2024.1 and convert the databases
- If updating from 2012.0 – 2020.1: The existing databases can’t be converted so that a migrating to new databases will be required: See How to migrate Sage Fixed Assets Single User products for more information. Company Backups (.BBK files) created in prior versions back to 2012.0 will restore directly into the 2024.1 product on a new system.
