CAUTION: This solution requires advanced knowledge of your computer's operating system. Contact your system administrator for assistance. Modifying your Windows Registry incorrectly can severely affect system operations. Sage is not responsible for operation issues caused by incorrectly modifying your Windows Registry. Always create a backup of your data before proceeding with advanced solutions.

Note: Antivirus programs such as Acronis have been found to cause this issue. Try disabling your antivirus software, and if that resolves the issue, refer to Files to allow through firewall and antivirus to add exceptions for Sage 50 into your antivirus.

Section 4: Windows 8 Compatibility mode is on for the shortcut

  1. Right-click on the Sage 50 Accounting shortcut and select Properties.
  2. Click the Compatibility tab.
  3. Uncheck Compatibility mode and click OK.

Section 5: Disconnected network drive

  1. Click the Windows Start button and in the Search box, type File Explorer. Press Enter.
  2. Look for the mapped drive that Sage 50 uses.
If there is a red x on the drive, follow Error: "Sage 50 cannot be started..." and my mapped drive is missing, has a red x, or cannot be accessed.

If you continue to have issues with the mapped network drive disconnecting, you can switch to a UNC path. Refer to How to update the INI on the workstations using a UNC path

See also How do I install using UNC paths in Release 2021 and later? for installation instructions using the UNC path.
