Summary
Your antivirus software or firewall will cause your Sage BusinessWorks program to lock up or freeze when launching tasks.
Resolution
Disable your antivirus software
- If your program works, contact your antivirus vendor to resolve the issue.
- Exclude file types with mkd and ddf file extensions.
Add .exe files to the 'White List' In your firewall
- Add the following files to the White List in your firewall.
- BWLauncher.exe - located in the BW Program folder.
- BWserver.exe - located in the BW Program folder.
- Task*.exe - located in the BW Program folder, then Tasks folder.
Open ports in firewall
- At the server, open ports 1583 and 3351 in your firewall.
Have Windows updates recently installed on the computer?
- Uninstall the Windows update and try launching the program or task again.
Uninstall and reinstall the Sage BusinessWorks program
- Uninstall Sage BusinessWorks on the affected computer.
- Reinstall Sage BusinessWorks and the most current service pack.
- Reinstall Sage BusinessWorks if the issue happens on the server, standalone computer, or all workstations.
- Reinstall the client if the issue occurs on one workstation.
Program freezes when printing
- Delete the bwprinter.dat file on the computer having the issue.
