| How do I install MyAssistant? |
Resolution | Overview of steps:- Verify Sage 300 CRE version.
- Download the correct, matching Sage MyAssistant version.
- Determine how and where you want to install MyAssistant.
- Verify activation keys.
See How do I get my activation codes for MyAssistant or MyCommunicator?" - Install the correct MyAssistant Server/Designer/workstation components.
- Set up the correct settings including, but not limited to:
- Creating/entering a Sage 300 CRE application administrator credential.
- Choosing the correct Sage 300 CRE databases you wish to use.
- Entering the correct SMTP outgoing mail server settings (provided by your IT group)
- Adding the correct firewall port exclusion (default 45812, TCP)
- Adding an administrator credential to the ISDAdminTaskService and ISDAdminSenderService Windows services.
Detailed Steps: - Before starting, verify your version of Sage 300 CRE. Do not skip this step:
- Launch TS Main at the file server. Click Help, About TS Main to see your installed version of Sage 300 CRE. Look for the CD version in parenthesis, such as (20.5 Update 1). This means you want to use a version of MyAssistant designed to work with Sage 300 CRE 20.5
- Download the version of MyAssistant that corresponds with your version of Sage 300 CRE. See What versions of MyAssistant and MyCommunicator are compatible with my version of Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?" to determine the version.
- Once MyAssistant install files download, if it doesn't run automatically, browse to the install files. Click the Autorun.hta file.
- Warning: Don’t install the Server and Workstation on the same computer. The Server installation includes the Workstation. Manually installing the workstation on the server will remove server settings.
- Server must be installed and configured before the Workstation can be configured on the MyAssistant Viewer and MyAssistant Designer users machines.
- If this is going to act as the MyAssistant workstation (usually activated with the Designer or the regular MyAssistant license activation codes), click the Workstation option.
- If this is going to be the MyAssistant server (using the MyAssistant Server license activation code and is usually activated on the Sage 300 CRE server), select the Server install option.
- Note: If you are going to install MyAssistant Server on an existing full version of Microsoft SQL Server, you must create the SQL instance and make sure it is the correct settings.
- Don’t install the Express version of MS SQL Server on a computer that already has the full version of MS SQL Server. Due to how Microsoft SQL works, this may cause problems. If you must use a computer that has the full version of MS SQL Server already, create a SQL instance and verify the settings are correct. See Installing MyAssistant with full version of SQL Server.
- For performance reasons and to prevent data corruption, don’t run more than 3 or 4 SQL instances on the same computer.
- Once the install completes, launch MyAssistant. The MyAssistant Configuration Manager should open the first time you launch MyAssistant manually. It may automatically already run after the install. Follow the prompts. Fill in the blanks as required. See links before for email settings.
- When prompted to enter a Company Number (or your client ID/account number) and MyAssistant Product Key. Keep in mind there are three types of licenses for MyAssistant. Use the information below to help you determine how to enter the correct product key. This will depend on what licenses your company purchased, and how you intend to use MyAssistant on the current computer.
- Note: When you activate a license key, it links to the Windows username/login/profile and the computer name. If you change computer names, computers, or Windows logins, contact Sage to release the license key for you. This will let you activate it on a different combination of Windows login/computer. It is important to log in as the Windows login that controls who can access that function of MyAssistant before activating a license.
- MyAssistant Server license/product key:
- Enter this license key if the computer you are installing to is going to be the MyAssistant server.
- This key is usually activated on the same server as the Sage 300 CRE software.
- You can only use this key if you chose the Server option when you installed MyAssistant.
- MyAssistant Designer license/product key:
- Enter this license key if you intend on having the current Windows username become the person who will design/modify tasks for MyAssistant.
- This license key can activate at the server or at any workstation.
- You can use this key regardless of if you chose the Server or Workstation options when you installed MyAssistant.
- MyAssistant license/product key (also known as the workstation key):
- Enter this license key if you intend on having the current Windows username become the person who will see notices when tasks are ready to run, or when they've been successfully ran.
- This license does not allow the user to modify anything.
- This license key can activate at the server or at any workstation, but usually is activated at a workstation.
- This key can be used with both the Server or Workstation options when you installed MyAssistant.
- Regardless of a new install, reinstall, upgrade, or migration, make sure to update the correct fields, such as the Microsoft SQL server name, during the activation processor so MyAssistant communicates correctly with Microsoft SQL. Your firewall must allow the connection. The default port used by Microsoft SQL is 45812. This port may be different if you set a different port manually.
- Note: If you see the MyAssistant login with asterisks ********* for the password, DON’T change this credential unless you know why you are doing so. Microsoft SQL uses this credential and doesn’t require modifications under normal conditions.
- We recommend you create a Sage 300 CRE user (in Sage Desktop, Tools, Security Administration) who is part of the Application Administrators group. Type in this credential when prompted for the Sage 300 CRE username and password. MyAssistant uses this login to read Sage 300 CRE data. The password should be set to not expire in Security Administration.
- Do not skip this step on the MyAssistant Server: If this is the MyAssistant Server, after running the Server Configuration Manager and successfully completing all fields, two Windows services will create. Change the login credential from the Local System Account to a Domain Administrator account for both services. MyAssistant uses these services to read data, run tasks and communicate with the outgoing mail server. To change the credential for these services, perform the following:
- Open Windows Services (click Start, Search programs and files, services.msc).
- Locate the ISDAdminSenderService and ISDAdminTaskService services.
- Double-click one of these services to open its properties windows.
- Click the Log On tab. Select the radio button for This account.
- In This account, type in domain\username, where username is an administrator account (domain administrator account is recommended) . If you are unsure, check with your IT professional. Do not skip this step.
- Example: If your network domain is MyCompany and an administrator Windows login is JohnSmith, you enter MyCompany\JohnSmith here.
- Perform these steps on both ISD services.
- Restart ISD services.
Read the MyAssistant User Guide, normally located under C:\Program Files (x86)\Innovative Software Design\My Assistant\Documents\ for information on how to use MyAssistant. - You may find it in C:\Program Files\Innovative Software Design\My Assistant\Documents\ or other similar locations, depending on the version of MyAssistant and your Windows operating system.
