How to update to Sage Fixed Assets Premier Edition 2025.1
Description
Cause

Sage Fixed Assets version 2025.1 is the annual Tax update, updating Tax forms and calculation rules in compliance with current IRS rules. See the Sage Fixed Asset Release Notes for new features included in this release.

For detailed installation instructions, See the Sage Fixed Assets Premier Installation Guide.

Note: Starting with Sage Fixed Assets 2023.1, Sage Fixed Assets installs SAP Crystal Reports runtime SP30. This can cause an issue with Crystal Reports runtime versions used for other products. See Crystal Runtime Version Conflict for more information.

If you can't run reports in Sage Fixed Assets 2023.1 or higher after installing Sage 500, see Crystal conflict Sage Fixed Assets 2023.1 and Sage 500

Notes on the 2025.1 update install:
• The download of Sage Fixed Assets Network version 2025.1 is a full version of the program

Note: For in place updates, you must do a Database Conversion for all versions of the program 2024.1 and prior. If not updating from 2024.1, see the Updating from older versions below for the update paths available.

Updating from 2024.1 through the Sage Advisor Update:

The Sage Advisor Update will display a read-only client notification for the 2025.1 release. The system delivers this notification as a pop-up message in the Microsoft Windows system tray.

    • Download & Install: This will download the update and start the Installation process once the download completes:
      • Click Next, then Yes and Yes to uninstall the prior version, then wait for the process to complete. Click Finish once completed
    • Download only: Later, you can either open the Sage Advisor Update and click the Download & Install button to start the installation or Browse to C:\Sage

      • Click Next, then Yes and Yes to uninstall the prior version, then wait for the process to complete. Click Finish once complete

See How do I convert data? for more details

Note: For new installations of the Premier Server, you need to set up the PDF Attachments path before exiting the Database Utility. See How to set up the PDF attachment folder Network or Premier Depreciation for details.

Updating the Client Sage Fixed Assets Premier (Client Install):

Note: Complete the following on all client workstations. If the client currently installed is version 2024.0 or prior, you must uninstall the existing client before proceeding:

  • Using windows explorer: Browse to and Run (as Admin) the SFAServ\Premier Client\Setup.exe. This is the folder where the system installed the Sage Fixed Assets Premier Server components on the Server
  • Click Next, click Yes, click Next and click Finish once the install process completes

Updating from older versions:

Note: You can find product downloads for the currently supported versions of Sage Fixed Assets on the Download portal, see Sage Fixed Assets: Download Portal.

CAUTION: If updating from 2023.1 or prior, once 2025.1 is installed without following the update path the databases can't be converted directly to 2025.1.   They’ll appear with a Conversion Status of Incompatible Version and will require a Sage Expert Services engagement to update. See How do I contact Sage Expert Services? for details.

Note: For in place updates, a Database Conversion is required for all versions of the program 2024.1 and prior. When updating from versions 2023.1 and prior the update paths are:

  • If updating from 2024.0, you can either:
  • If updating from 2023.1:
  • If updating from 2023.0,:
    • Uninstall the existing version, install 2024.1 and convert the databases, then update to 2025.1 and convert the databases
  • If updating from 2012.0 – 2022.1:
    • For versions 2012.0 – 2022.1 there’s no direct update path using the existing databases. Instead, you’ll need to create backups of the company files in the client program, set up a new environment and databases, install the 2025.1 version, and restore backups of the company files. See How to Migrate Premier - SQL Server to SQL Server. Company Backups (.BBK) files created in prior versions back to 2012.0 will restore directly into the 2025.1 product on a new system.
