Error: "Cannot perform the selected option..."

Summary

The error "Cannot perform the selected option. The option you’ve selected is currently unavailable because the Sage BusinessWorks Company database is locked by another user." displays when accessing a task if you have a stuck user in Sage BusinessWorks.

Resolution

  1. Make sure that all users, including yourself, are out of Sage BusinessWorks.
  2. Disconnect users using the DBRegister utility.
  3. Attempt the task again on one computer.
  4. If the error happens again, close open files on the Sage BusinessWorks server.
  5. Ensure that there are no products that integrate with Sage BusinessWorks open.
  6. On the server, stop and restart the database engine.
  7. Share the Sage folder with full control to all Sage BusinessWorks users.
  8. If the error persists, uninstall Sage BusinessWorks on the computer having the issue and reinstall.

If after performing one or more steps you receive the error, "Btrieve Status 3. File not open or Unable to open table." reboot the computer receving the error.
